By spending a Fate point and using up a small quantity of Lapis Lazuli, the character surrounds a single living character with writhing darkness oscillating from dark gray to pitch black. The effect requires a successful Immortal skill check, against which the target can defend with Will. A creature who successfully defends is enshrouded until the caster’s next turn, but the shroud remains fixed in place: the creature can easily exit. If the spell is cast successfully, the shroud extends about a foot out from the target in all directions, but its movement follows theirs only lazily; observers can only guess the enshrouded character’s placement within the shroud within the darkness. The affected character gains the Blinded and Mystically Enshrouded aspects until the caster’s next turn. If the caster succeeds with style, the shroud remains in place until the end of the scene.
